First question I have is how the hell do you break the glass on the gauges TWICE?

Second question is what's up with this strip in the middle?

Third question is, can these be brought back if not to life, then to some reasonable semblance of it?

Those are in pretty bad shape :/. If you are restoring to stock you can pick up a new head for pretty cheap on ebay. Otherwise this is a good time to throw on some sleek new gauges!

The problem with the sleek new gauges is that you will then have to rework the wiring harness to get around all the sensors that are controled by the computer that handles the warning display in the center strip in that cluster.

The best option if you want to keep the atari cluster would be to locate a good face plate, and check the rest of the functions out on the cluster.

FYI: The bike will not run without the cluster attached, or some other means of reworking the wiring, and sensors to bypass the computer.

What's "cheap" for these? eBay starts at $100.

I might have to check the bulbs and live with it the way it is for a while. That's a pair of brake hoses right there.
