I have to cast my vote for Jafrum too. I've bought 2 sets from them and both were great

How 'bout a 650 Maxim? Has anyone come across an online pattern for a DIY job? I just want something to throw over the flanks for the morning commute.

I made a set made of synthetic leather, easy to put on and off.

Ok i was not happy with the way the saddle bags were touching my front seat. So i made a few changes. First i made the top of the bags wider by 1 hole. Then i installed them backwards from the first picture.

Next will be to move the turn signals to where the lic plate bolts are. Will need to make a new mounting bracket and add some wires.

Looks like they're gonna burn in the second photo. I like 'em, though, and the price is deadly.

Looks like you need to do the same thing I did and put some muffler tape on the bottom of those. It helps keep them from getting crispy from the exhaust. You cant see the tape once mounted. Mine are mounted like in the first photo. The bags are just big enough to bring home a few groceries in. Believe it or not you can fit 2 gallons of milk and some other misc. stuff in. I know. I get that call all the time. "Could you stop by such and such place on the way home and pick up a a bunch of stuff " Enjoy the bags. Price if definately right. Dont forget to soften them with a lot of saddle soap. They hate the rain.

I never thought about puting exast tape under the bags, thats a good idea, that should be in the tech department.

Ok made the rear turn signal bracket and got them moved to the rear by the plate.

Was able to get the bags up and away from the pipes. And added a windshield.

Think i am done. Just time to ride ride ride. Off to the casino now!!

I want to get a set of saddlebags for my 1982 XJ1100. Never bought saddlebags before. I see that the way to mount them is to straddle the rear fender underneath the seat. What I'm wondering is, that would put the entire weight of the bags, including whatever is in them, right smack on top of the CDI unit, as that's where it's mounted. Has that ever caused a problem for anyone?

It could cause the cdi unit to overheat. I think I would be loong for someplace to move the cdi unit to.

My XJ1100 has rails that run along both side of the seat. I think what I need is a type of saddlebag that attaches to those rails, rather than straddling the fender under the seat. Anybody know where I could get bags like that?
