after a finial trip through the ultrasonic cleaner with some dish soap and a good blowing out with shop air, they are ready for rebuilding. now to pool the funds for the necessary rebuild parts.

number 4 carb has a lot of pitting from the corrosion. good thing this set is a spare set. I will likely use my other number 4 carb when I get that set apart. although that particular carb is the troublesome one on the bike. its' cold start circuit is clogged up.

this is the setup I have. it is a cheap harbor freight sand blaster with some mods. most notably the air pinch valve with foot control. the turbine in the top right corner of the pic is for my fresh air hood.

I'm thinking of getting this airgun do you think it will be ok with soda?

They've come up great Cycle, asking because mine will need to be done to.

it will work, just not as well as a pressure system like the one I have. if you do get that one or make the one that bigshankhank posted, you will want to make a diy blast cabinet similar to this one...

    http://www.instructables.com/id/Homemad ... g-Cabinet/

I use a fresh air hood like this one...

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Supplied-fresh- ... 5894617ca9

and I was covered from head to toe with soda. the baking soda you get from the grocery store will work, but not as well as actual blasting soda. here are some faqs' on the subject...

That homemade blasting cabinet it genius, I can see me recycling some of my little 'uns Ikea toyboxes for this, they're clear stacking boxes so won't even need to cut the top and add plexi :)

that would be a great idea if the fuel would not wash it away. the float bowls and the bottoms of some of the carb bodies have a lot of pitting from corrosion.

the other item that is crucial to blasting, is a large air compressor. I have a 60 gallon compressor that does a fair job of keeping up with my blasting demands.

once it's on and baked nothing takes it off, stripper, brake fluid, gas, i tried it all. mine were just done with a wire brush, your looks more like the blasted surface they want for adhesion

polock, which of their products have you used?

I picked up another set of carbs today. they cost me less than the first set and came with a few extra parts...

sadly it looks like the carbs and front tire are the only viable bits here, outside of various nuts and bolts. considering their unavailability, I am hoping the exhaust collector is in usable condition to be saved as a spare.

Wow quite a haul of extras there! :) Can't complain huh? Is the frame bent/rotten/titled? Engine seized?

If it was me, I couldn't help thinking about making it into another bike! hardtail starting point methinks... 8)

What made the p/o cut the frame and wheel up though? (are they cut, or crashed/snapped?) 8O

unfortunately the engine sat outside in the rain long enough to seize it up. and it appears the previous owner had a crack problem. he took a sawsall to it thinking he would build a bobber. not too sure why he cut the rear wheel and swing arm up.

2400 series gloss, satin and flat black and 2400 brushed stainless.
gloss on the carbs and master cyl, satin on the engine parts, stainless on some small bits.

Has anyone tried boiling gummed up carbs in lemon juice? I believe there is a article by Evan Fell that does it and describes in detail how. I cann't remember all of it, but interesting reading.
