Fork bushes for 1982 Seca 750

    Hi Guys, Replacing the Fork Tubes on my Seca 750 and would like to replace the bushes also, but cannot find both sets anywhere. One of the US michrofiches has a listing for a ``Metal Slide`` 2 ( Part no 8 ) on the exploded fork diagram, and its pricey too at around $50 !! The other one, Part no 7 or metal slide 1 as its referred as, does not seem to be available. Anyone got any ideas on this as to what to do ??? The current bushes on my bike are showing slight, very slight lines on my old tubes, and I don't want to mess up brand new Tubes with tired bushes and then get leaks in a few weeks etc....Any suggestions would be great guys. Thanks in advance.

    Use XJ4ever. The bushings are pricey, but Len has them in stock and they're the right fit. He ships parts quick too.

    I had to replace the bushing on my forks as well. The lower bushing on the stanchion was so worn down, it popped through the upper bushing on the fork tube. On both forks! A dremel and patience were able to get the old bushing out without any damage to the seating area.

    Let me know if you have questions, I have detailed pictures and video of the teardown and rebuild process.

    Thanks for that Info and I might be interested in your teardown procedures. I am lucky to have a superb mechanic who looks after all my bikes, and am sure he will have little trouble with it. I spoke with Len earlier after quickly figuring out that he was ``The Man``, and he is certainly living up to his reputation, as he had the bushes, and they are being sent over to me in Ireland tommorrow !!! They are horrendously expensive for what they are ( $226 ) , but if you need them, you need them I guess. I picked up a brand new set of NOS fork tubes just 2 weeks ago, in the States, for just $150, so this makes the cost of these mickey mouse parts all the more painful !!! I also put in a new set of ``Wilbers`` fork springs for the bike, so it should be really nice when its all done. The bike is almost fully restored now and looks like brand new, well almost !!!!
