I've been having a problem with my blinkers - sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I'm sure I have a loose wire in the switch. Can anyone help me with how I remove the switch to assess the wires and connections. My Clymer manual is nearly useless on this issue. It says to separate the two halves of the signal switch assembly...but how? Should I stick a flathead into the slot and pry it open? I'd rather not make my problem worse.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The switch "pod" has two screws that hold it together, they thread in from the bottom side. The two halves come together to clamp onto the bar. No prying.

Thanks Fitz. I guessed it was real simple but didn't see the screws last night when I was looking.

PS. Thanks for all your help. I've followed some of your step by step tutorials successfully (clutch, petcock rebuild, valve adjustment) which has really given me confidence that even I can fix this thing! I hate my speedo ending at 85...I think you have a tutorial on that too :D
