well it's finally ready to start running after 1.5 years of building except I do not know where to troubleshoot next. It has a custom harness, all shims at spec, 4-1 open exhaust, carbs are completely cleaned, rebuilt, and jetted (for pods and the exhaust combo), and I am not sure where to go from here to inspect and troubleshoot. Let me know your thoughts.

Well, it starts, so that's a ........ start.

Sounds like the idle SPEED screw need to be turned up, sounds like it's dying because the throttles are almost completely closed. Does using a bit of choke help keep it running?

Remember, the FIRST thing you're going to do (like within 60 seconds) of getting it running is to SYNCH the engine, that process gets rid of 90% of the rough idle/dying/hi-revving etc. issues.

Well I fiddled with the idle speed screw and even added a little starter fluid, but nothing. Yes I used the choke. I'm kinda stumped.

Did you set the petcock to prime and wait for the float bowls to fill?
Did you bench synch the carbs?

Yeah and its leaking fuel from where the fuel filter is located. I'm just going to take it out for now. The peacock is basically an on/off valve attached to a hanging "gas" can. I had the carbs professionally rebuilt and I'd put money on not being bench synched.

Maybe the pilot screws need to be opened more. Are all the vacuum ports capped? Did you set the petcock at Prime to let the carbs fill. Maybe set it on Prime until you get it cranked and the vacuum opens the petcock.

Yes all the vacuum ports are capped. There is no tank on it so no petcock. I could probably open screws up and remove the filter. That way there is unimpeded flow.

it sure sounds like it wants to run. it just needs more air and fuel. I recommend double checking the float levels and making sure the pilot jet needles are 2.5 to 3 turns out. remember, float level is critical.

    Any luck?

I'd turn the idle screw in even more and don't touch the throttle while you're using the choke. If the bowls are full and you have spark it should run.

We won't get into the pod/open exhaust discussion, but that might be part of it too... Was it running pre-build? compression ok?

Na not yet. Antigravity battery ran out of juice, so I have to get a special charger for it...and I just got married so that comes with its own fun.

don't let it sit in a discharged state for too long, that is the quickest way to kill a battery.

congratulations on getting married. I've been married for 8 years next month myself.
