I have a strange mechanical/technical problem with reassembling my carb rack
    Carbs are off a XJ900RL
It is the connector tubes between the carbs that are giving me issues. In particular the sealing of the tubes into the carb bodies.
I have made a vid showing my issue. Hope it shows what my problem is...

It kind of looks like those o rings are flat on the one that doesn't fit. Did you get new o rings?

I agree, did you replace the orings? Are they the right size?

looks to me like even the better fit ones are too loose. look around on here

    the o-ring should compress 10 to 40 %
you need to measure the bottom of the groove and the cross section of the o-ring and do some math.
if those used o-rings have been out for awhile they may have shrunk, soak them in gas over night and try that again

Thanks for the sanity check guys. I had suspected this but the caliper measurements seemed to deny my sanity.
Infact the overflow T connectors are also quite loose.

New O Rings it is then.
I feel it may make sense then to just get a full carb kit seeing that I have them just about right apart at the moment.
I gather these O rings would be in such a kit.

Those orings are not in your off the shelf k&l kits. Click the XJforever icon in top right corner of home page and start conversation with Chacal. He will get you the correct parts pdq, no matter where you are on the planet!

    Thanks mate, onto it already.
I was looking around on his catalogue threads to see if there are carb kits and what is in them, but there is just too much info!
I have started a conversation with Chacal now to track down these parts

    many thanks
