Rebuilt / reinstalled the Master Cylinder. Man that MC is a b!-(h to get at! Especially with the fairing mounting hardware in the way.
Replaced all of the brake lines (still originals) with SS braided.

I am gonna have to upgrade myself to the SS braded lines as well.
I was just messing around with a 6inch polishing wheel on my bench grinder with the exhaust-very nice
Glanced over and seen my horns and gave them a quick cleaning- That's when I noticed that one of the mounting brackets is broke and 1/2 of it is missing :(
Gonna be hard to find a replacement being as its an XJX doesn't even look close to the others that I have seen
when in doubt reach out to chacal
    :D

After successfully bleeding, my calipers stick. They are easy enough to get free by loosening the caliper bolts or tapping lightly on the outside of each caliper, and I imagine pushing the caliper piston back in a bit. Looks like a caliper rebuild is in the works; which was already on my list.

After months of waiting, and waiting, and being sick, and more sick, and waiting, and waiting..........

I put a new headlight bulb in.

I also started it up, brought the engine to temp, and did the safety checks so I can go riding later in the week.

Today I got a surprise in the mail-A new left hand horn assembly-or new to me at least. Being as I have never had a horn that worked, ok the horn worked one time and then the button or spring broke and hasn't worked since. Good as time as any to get a replacement. Probably should of gotten one years ago for safety reasons. Another lesson to be learned.

Installed the spin on oil filter kit, got a running sync done on the bike. It's not completely dialed in, but I just wanted to be able to get out and change the battery because that light came on while I was syncing. It started to rain, hopefully I can do the color tune and another sync tomorrow.

Does the spin on oil filter kit make it easier to change. As of now i have to pull my 4into1 exaust to have enough room to change the filter

yes the spin on filter is smaller than the stock filter housing

Even with the stock exhaust I believe it is easier to change, if only by a little bit. My biggest draw was, honestly, the ease of finding filters and the potential extra filtering capacity.

Although it won't be anytime soon, can these be used with the oil cooler?

Yes. The spin-on adapter plate sandwiches the oil cooler adaptor between itself and the engine case. You do still need the special union bolt for mounting the oil cooler adapter.

Oh... and today I went for an hour ride then started taking my exhaust apart for the new to me pipes I just got.

Happy that the pipe ring lug nuts are coming right off easy...

started my note book and inspection to my new arrival today XJ 750K.
did inventory needs correct handle bars no security chain and it has after market mirrors .
disconnected solinoid connector (remove temptation to try to start)
    oil check ok level.
added a&a to the cylinders. laughed at the decripid fuse box and its repair.
ohmed out the ignition system cap found a 10K cap on one wire (5k normal)
tested voltage at fuse and tci no tci voltage.
pulled Right control cleaned lubed now have my 12 volts at tci.
run switch was filthy, starter button was just as bad.

When I first turned the key on head light came on right away. there is no head light relay in the 83 750 maxim. What yamaha did surprised me. 2 extra wires on the starter button. when button out lights on, press button light off for starting. that is a lot of current for that little contact plate.

now to clean the left side control
    next up ignition key cleaning
    wire harness check and clean.

then Into the motor for shim check and compression test

On the FJ1200, washed her up, warmed her up and ran her down the road. On the Xj700X, got it all back together and then found the coolant leak...still a good day.

Parts showed up. Put the carbs together following church, installed the new ignition and diode kit, ran it. Seemed fine, it was pretty wet outside but hey, when you wanna ride, you wanna ride. Short little test run, everything seemed okay. Going to sync, colortune and sync again when the weather is a bit better.

I had to sort out the electrics, fitted a replacement wiring harness, painted frame, cleaned carburetors, sealed hole in exhaust under engine. Still have to fit the replacement neutral switch (than will be fun) check the valve clearances, new oil and filter, change fork oil and springs, and change the oil in the rear driveshaft housing. I also stripped the calipers and cleaned them, and bled front and back brakes.

Dowski, you have been a member for more than 3 years, you should know better.

Great customer service, endorsed by many members, intelligent, coupled with other members horror stories of wrong parts/returns headaches and delayed riding. Why wouldn't you order from XJ4Ever?

Trust and believe I am an extremely frugal tight wad - some of the stuff does cost a little more, but that extra cost buys piece of mind. For me that is priceless, given the society we live in has lowered its standards so far that consumers are "ok" with shrugging their shoulders and saying: "Par for the course".

Your are absolutely correct- Piece of mind is more important-I am going to contact Chacal here shortly to get what I need correctly the first time.
Thanks for reminding it of what it used to be like back in the day before all this commercialization destroyed are core values! That is one thing that I try very hard to teach my grand children
Do what you say, say what you mean
Makes life a lot easier no BS and if there is it goes away rather quickly.
As of right now the sun is taunting me, why you not riding Bro ?

Tomorrow put it on the bike and start it to see how shes running. Just to be sure the starter should spin counter clockwise looking from the back correct?

Chacal has the most parts that I know of along with an intimate knowledge of the XJ series-He is your best bet may be a little higher but you et what you need the first time you order. I 've learned that lesson !
