Safe to powdercoat final drive hub?

    Just wondering if it’s safe to cook the final drive hub without completely disassembling it, minus shaft and oil seal out. Anyone know or have done it safely? Thanks.

    Maybe try VHT paint for brake calipers
    Turns out nice and only requires 200F to cure it.

    Like Xj550H pointed out, there's more than one oil seal, and you have to do a full teardown to get to them all. Reassembly requires making a pair of special tools, and knowing how to use a dial indicator. Best to just clean it up and paint it with a good enamel.

    Sounds good. Thanks everyone. Once I get the hub on, can I take it off in the future without having to pull the engine again if it needs repainting at some point?

    yes you just disconnect the drive shaft from motor
