I have had my cam chain adjusted on my 1982 750 Seca but still have a bit of noise coming from it. I was told to try thicker oil I am running 10w40 at the moment would 20w50 be ok to use or can I add a quart of 20w50 to 10w 40 to thicken it a little bit. I live in South Carolina where it’s now hot weather when I ride.

Fwiw, I live in Wisconsin and run 20w-50. Don't ride much when it gets real cold.

I didn’t want to run the wrong oil just Incase anything happens. I will try 20w50 see if that helps

What does the noise sound like?
A short video would be helpful.
Oil won't make noises go away, and some noises are supposed to be there.

Clappy valves are happy valves. Noise in an aircooled engine is normal and will never go away completely. 20w40 is fine just do not use synthetic oil can cause clutch slippage and starter clutch problems . Kmoe has a good write up on oil read his thread. I have tried 20w50 and noticed no difference in noise but that is all subjective .
