I have never had to replace the carb to bowl gasket in my several cleaning rebuilds, but now I have a set of carbs that need gaskets.

I have black fuel/oil resistant RTV, Indian Shellac , and red spray high tac.

what sealer/cement is best to use?

can I use the Indian shellac ? it is my go to gasket cement in auto applications.

    what do you use?

I just use new gaskets. You can cut one from a cereal box if need be.

i lay a sheet of 1000 flat on the table saw and make a few figure 8's lightly to check for high or low spots then put it on dry, seems to work for me

I use rtv and glue gasket to the bowl , and light smear of grease on the matting surface to carb body . Makes it easy to pull bowl and does not stick gasket ,so it won't tear gasket.

    Be a
Be aware that gasoline will soften or dissolve most silicone sealants.
Just make sure the carb and bowl are clean and the gasket will seal just fine. The carb bodied have a small ridge built in that helps sealing against the carb bowl.
If you are worried about the gasket sticking apply a thin smear of grease . They will come apart easy the next time.

Tha gaskets are meant to be put on without any sealant or dressing. As mentioned, a thin smear of grease on one side is fine.

May or may not be applicable to your situation, but I get the high quality aftermarket ones from Len and I never have to put anything on them.
