I mistakenly hooked a car battery up in reverse on my 82 650 Seca (new to me) I was told the bike turned over fine by the guy who sold it to me. Should have verified that myself, but the bike is a project that seems pretty good so far as I am digging in to it. At any rate, I made the current mistake, so I will assume that is the source of my problem. Any suggestions of what to look at as a first step to getting power flowing? Thanks.

I'd start with the fuses and fuse box. Then check the condition of the connectors in the starting circuit.

What do you mean by "no signs of life"?

Do the instrument cluster lamps light up when you turn on the key?

If it's the original glass fuses fuse box, it needs to be replaced anyway.

I am not sure anything is protected from reverse voltage in this system. Worst case could be pretty bad.

Looking quickly at the 650G wiring diagram, I don't think the diode block would have been damaged. If it doesn't crank, then you probably had another problem already, like a bad solenoid, or just user error like the bike in gear, kill switch in kill position, ....

I'd be most worried about the rectifier/regulator being fried, and also the TCI...
