I'm currently building an 82 Maxim 750 and I ran across someone selling an 81 Seca 750. I'm thinking of buying it for parts but before I buy it I'd like to know how compatible the 2 are... any thoughts? Thanks.

Actually not a lot , the Seca forks have an anti dive , the master cylinder is cable operated , the gas tank is a different shape , the insturment cluster is different, the handle bars are different, side covers tail piece, seat, tail light as well. The engine mounts are different as well , but I think it can be modified to work . Carbs are the same though ( jetting might be different) you still should buy it .

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I think I will buy it. Honestly, the price is low enough that it's worth it even if it's just for the tires lol.

There is quite a bit that is compatable, if not exactly the same.
For example; I have a Maxim engine cases and the necessary rubber mounts on my Seca.
The entire front end will swap over.
The fuel tank will swap, but you actually have a larger tank on the Maxim.

Get the bike. It might even be worth getting it rideable instead of using it for parts.
