HSC32 Carb Stand

Why spend $20 at the hardware store when you can spend $20 on filament and way too much time in CAD?

I built this 3D-printable carb stand for HSC32 carbs.

It is printed in 9 pieces and glued together.

There are 7 STL files in the ZIP file.

The "Leg" and "Post" pieces are the same left and right, and 2 of each will need to be printed.

Here is the completed stand, painted in a snazzy orange, because:
1. Protect it from solvents and chemicals in the shop
2. Easy to find if you drop it in a snowbank
3. It looks cool

That is neat, I will say that all I do is lean it up against a piece of wood I have. Shim with post its to make level. You can shim the carb, the wood or the table it is all sitting on till level.

 

or a level and a vice.
Not as shiny though.

 

OK, dummy question. I need to know the ID of the carb holder.... holder holes... yeah. So I can match with my ID of the HSC33's off my '85 XJ700N. I don't know how to read the file to get those numbers.

 

The ID of the holder (for the OD of the HSC32 carbs) is 38.5mm.

It is parameterized, so in theory one could tweak for different carb diameters and offsets.

I think I have a junk HSC33 body laying around - I could also probably tweak for 33's.

 

Did you paint it or are your prints that smooth and glossy??? What material did you use? I'm not likely to print one, but I'm glad you shared.

 

Adjustable feet for leveling would make it perfect.

 

I printed with garden variety PLA. Primed and painted for fun using some Kawasaki orange.

 

I put on little rubber feet for stability. Something adjustable is a good idea. I will see what I can find

 

LOTS of hits for 'leveling feet' on Thingiverse.

 

And a cheap little bubble level you can screw or glue to the top rail..........so you know how much levelling to do.

 

Anybody have a rack of Mikuni BS28 to compare against on this?

 

Maybe I will ask @hogfiddles if he has a junk BS28 rack that I can borrow to tweak the design. Heck, if anybody has a rack that they want me to customize for I'd be happy to do it if you sent me a rack. I could then return your rack with a print!
