I’ve read through the Bench Sync tutorial , but I have a quick question:

What position should the idle adjustment screw be in when I start the bench sync process?

Totally clockwise? Totally counter-clockwise? Or right in the middle?

Thank you for all the help!

Can't remember where mine was, but it wasn't completely closed. I would think that as long as the plates can close completely you would be ok. But, I'm sure someone else with more knowledge will speak up.

    Thanks for your reply.

I worked it out. I think it’s a hard thing to explain, probably why no one replied.

I ended up starting the bench sync with the idle adjust screw about three turns past contact.

3 turns past contact works. Sounds like you figured it out. The amount #3 carb butterfly is open doesn't matter, as long as you can make the others match.

Shim method with business card, paper clip or drill bit.
Visual reference using pilot screw holes or sliver of light.

Many methods, whatever makes you happy. These are all semi-crude precursors to a vacuum synch anyhow.
