OEM vs. Fram oil filter O-Ring XJ550

    Is it possible to use the smaller ones considering removing the oil cooler and the union bolt???

    I've had the same issue pop up on my XS1100. Got a good deal on some NOS filters dirt cheap but the housing o-rings looked awfully thin. Compared them to the one that comes from a Fram and also K&N, they're the same thickness. If you check it against a Wix filter the ring is significantly thicker with those.

    Moral of the story, a light coating of RTV on the ring solves the problem!
