:?: Just wondering what the average age demographic is. How long have you been riding?

I am 23 and the xj650 is my first bike, so I've been riding for about a month.

Just turned 28, I'm waiting for my just bought '83 Seca 750 tourer to be delivered to me, it's my fourth bike. First was a basket case '81 Seca that I had to take apart and put back together, then a boat anchor '84 Honda Sabre, then a brand new anniversary edition 2005 V-Max, just sold that last fall, but the whole time had always missed the comfort, amenities and quirks of my old Seca, so I bought another one! I can't wait!!! :p

YIKES! how did i get here so quick?
been riding off and on most of my life. first bike was a 20 dollar yamaha enduro of some kind (125 or 175 i think) at about 13. got it cheap because it had electrical issues. Fixed it and rode it. loved bikes ever since.

38 - I learned to ride (street bikes) on my moms 81 650 maxim. Then rode the piss out of my dads 750 Maxim. Bought my first bike in 88 (still have it) 83 Seca turbo. Been mostly riding and working on Vmax models these last 15 years. Got my bike license even before I had my can license (in 85).

Have had a few bikes over the years but hardly ever sell them.

I'm 36 years young. I was just thinking that my '81 Maxim turned one year old for me at the beginning of April. I knew that I had gotten my endorsement about a month after I purchased the bike, so I pulled my Motorcycle Rider Course Completion Card out of my wallet. Guess what? It was exactly one year ago today that I passed the BRC class. So, tomorrow would be the one year anniversary of me getting my motorcycle endorsement on my license.

Man, time has flown by (and so have the miles 8) )

I'm second from the bottom. :( Been riding street bikes, the same one, for 17 years. I had a 10 year period where the bike sat because I had little kids and no money for tires, battery chain etc.

I'm 27 and the '80 650 Maxim is my first bike (street bike, I have had dirtbikes in the past) which I have taken apart and cleaned put back together and ridden around the block once. Now its in pieces in the garage again getting a new paint job and a few other necessities. As soon as its ready I'm taking the course and license test.

I must be one of the oldest members:

I turn 60 in June! Been riding since I was 12. Can't remember ever being without a two-wheeler of some kind.

My favorite was the Virago until it's starter died.
Now my favorite is my 900 ... but, I'm tunin that up and selling it.

The family says I can only have one bike and the Maxim has the plates on it.

45, just in the respectable middle area... 'til November anyway.

First bike was a YB 100 when I was 16, followed very shortly after by a Suzuki GT250 until about 1982. Then in 2007 (oh yeah, 25 years) the XJ and a whole heap of safety gear!

I am 24 I got my first bike, my 750 Seca, just under 4 years ago.

My two XJ750's are the same age as me, we were all born in 1983.

Am I up to 3 motorcycles in 4 years?? I should have a nice collection in another 10!

I am 41 and learned to ride on a Honda Elsinore 50 when I was 10 or 11. Been on two wheels since then.
This Seca is my 4th street bike. The first three were Harleys.
I don't own a Harley now and probably never will again.

24 - been riding a year on my first bike that is a 1983 xj 750 maxim work in progress - the only problem is that the riding is so much more fun than the working when the days are warm so you get it running strong but not pretty then enjoy, the cosmetic stuff has to wait until winter.

40 years young here. Started out at 16 with a Honda MB-5 then bought a Honda Ft-500 Ascot, blew that up and found the seca 550. I have owned two seca 550's, bought a seca 750 for my Dad, and bought a seca turbo about 4 years ago. Raced the seca 550 in Vintage Dinosaurs at Willow Springs from 1992-97 and finished up as class champion in a class that was unlimited displacement. Still have the Superseca 550 with tons of work done to it, its just not street legal. Every year I tell myself that I will put the street gear on it and get it running again.

42......bought my first and only road bike at 19. That would have been 1985. She was brand new and had been waiting at the dealership 3 years for the right owner I guess. She turned 26 this year so I can put a historical plate on.

    26. I have been riding dirtbikes for about 8 years, living in the middle of the New Mexican desert leaves not much else to do...well that and shooting stuff.) I have never had a street bike of any sort until 3 days ago when i bought my 1981 Yamaha XJ650 maxim.

I have been looking for a bike to help offset the coming gasoline crisis as my lifted 4x4 truck and its 14-16 miles a gallon will not due. My XJ will get around 40mpg, well, once I get my parts from Chacal at least.)

hmm. 52, been riding since I was 25 or so. Someone gave me a 70 something honda 350, took it apart, reassembled it, drove it in and out of Boston for a year or so, then got a mid 80's Suzuki 450, then a Suzuki GS750, which I blew up on Sandia Mountain in NM, then a Harley tourglide, which was nothing but trouble, then a 72 Honda CB750, which I put literally 100k on, and gave away cause the damned thing wouldn't die so I could get a new bike, then drove a 70 MG Midget for five years, seized the engine, got rid of that, which brings me to the XJ650. Which has new brakes and is getting registered tomorrow. WOOHOO! :D

    30. My first bike was a 1972 Yamaha JT60 when I was 12, but I learned to ride on my cousin's 1971 Honda trail 70. My first street bike was my XJ650RJ, and was 17 when I bought it. Let it go a few years ago because of space. I bought an XV535 last summer, and wasn't too impressed with the V-twin. So, I went hunting for another XJ, and found a good deal on some boxes full of parts and a frame that used to be one this past winter. I've about got it all back together minus the grab bar, headlight, and doing the fine tuning. Looks like I'll have it just in time for the nice weather.

I will be 50 in July.

Been riding 38 years now. I reckon I got about another 30 or so ridin' years left in me.

Owned lots of bikes, mostly Yamahas. Had a couple Hondas and Harleys.

My whole family rides now. That's how you do it, Get your family hooked and they don't look at you funny when you pick up another bike. You don't even have to justify the purchase either. They already know your addicted to two wheels.

Just turned 24 a week ago. I rode an '86 Honda VF500F Interceptor for two years and after riding a Yamaha R1 and a Honda 1800 VTX a few times each, I decided that a cruiser was for me. I sold the Honda and I'm going to pick up my 82 650 Maxim tomorrow and I'm driving 7 hours round trip to get it. Can't wait to get on it for the first time.

30 here, started at 5 yrs old on a brand new honda 50, then a older trail seventy, a 100(or was it a 125??), the first bike I bought with my own money was a honda 350 enduro which by todays standards was a friggen tank. THe a 550 super sport off a guy that had done a bunch of motor work to it man that thing was fast!! 147 was my fastest on it looking back what a stupid thing to do. I stopped riding for the last 4-5 yrs. Till I started helping a friend get his ready for the season then I found my Xj maxim X sitting along the road waiting for me and I am back on 2 wheels.
