I thought I had a line on an exhaust collector for a 900 Seca. But the owner decided not to sell it. This leaves me desperately searching for a collector as the input connections have rotted away on mine. any help would be appreciated.

Hey hogfiddles, I am an idiot and bough an XJ 550 Maxim tank for my SECA. Shes been sitting in the grage for a year or so and I've been slowly getting everything patched up on the bike (she was in a dire state) and I saw you posted about tank swaps. You mentioned I would need to either need an extension forward or the front mounting cups would need to be moved, how would I go about doing that?

Hogfiddles, I saw an old posting where you had mentioned a registry for the XJ900. I have an 83 RK, two actually but one needs considerable work. How would I go about accessing the registry? I’m down near Kingston, NY by the way. Thanks.

hogfiddles, good day to ya You were reccommenmed by another member about my 82 xj750j, My carbs are way past ready for a rebuild. Would you be willing to revuild my carbs & bench sync if I sent them to you closer to winter. I am riding the bike now runs good but has popping on left exhaust pipe

Good morning. I was wondering if you or someone else had a right side cover for the 400 Seca that I could borrow for a pattern ? I have access to a 3d printer or am capable of making a fiberglass mold and building the part. I have ran in to many road blocks on this project. Is this something that you could help me with ? @hogfiddles, I saw you had some pairs of side panels for 82 xj750 maxim a couple years back. You wouldn't happen to still have any? Did the cardinal sin, lost the right side panel.

I have 2 XJ900RK bikes. One restored and another in process. Do you want their numbers for your database?
I restored the first one in 2007 and sold it after finally getting the prime circuit cleared out. I just bought it back and I am having a little trouble getting the carbs to idle down properly. They are really close, just not quite right...

Hello Dave,I still haven't started my bike yet to see how the last tear down on the carbs went yet but I'm close.
I was wondering if you have had any issues with your Starter Chain Guides with your XJ 700s

Dave,I finally got the Carbs back on the bike and it is running much better now,i found one float that was intermittently leaking so i replaced all four needles and seats and wet sync the float levels more times then i can count.

Okay...thank you for you input Dave. It will be a couple of months before i get the bike back together.

Could be... and sediment indicates either bad filter, dirty or rusty tank—- which means if it’s in the bowls, it’s in the carbs too

So i took apart the carbs and the only thin that stuck out so far after a primarily inspection is during draining of the float bowls i noticed that one carb had about 2.5 oz of fuel and the others had 1-1.5 oz and noticed some black stuff in the bottom of the bowls not a whole lot.Do you think the uneven balance in the bowls would be a factor for my issue ?

Well you have to figure out if you’re bogging due to drowning, or starving

Would they cause my symptoms of bogging off idle ?

I can usually see it ..... the arent smooth anymore— they start to get a ‘velvety’ look, and then a ‘sandpapery’ look, then onto ‘bad’

Dave,if the carb jets are etched ? you can't see that can you ? how can you tell ? doesn't that just make the mixture more rich ?

So you have: 1. At least one float sticking open 2. A leaky petcock, unless you left it on PRI

The float bowls overfilled one time when left on prime after a couple of weeks too.

If it’s been sitting with gas in the bowls, it could have eaten/etched the jets—

i'm still having issues with the stumbling or bogging on take off , i'm thinking the ethanol fuel that i was using may have restricted the pilot jets,you did the carburetor rebuild a couple of years ago but only maybe 300 miles on the rebuild. ,i was thinking of not breaking the rack apart and just cleaning the bowls,jets and seats,wet test floats and check height of floats.

Hello Dave. I believe that i may be having Pilot Jet issues on my 85 Maxim XJ ,it stumbles on take off from a stop if i don't Rev the idle first a bit.
Have you heard of any success with adding Techron of some other trpe of fuel additive to relive problem or even preventing this common issue.
