    Hey everyone,

Since it is the down season for riding here in Washington, I wanted to do a little work on my bike. When I am shifting, I have to use an odd technique in order for it to shift up, and shift down. When I do this, it shifts just fine, so I am sure it may be a spring of some sort. In order to shift up, i have to slightly press down on the pedal and then go under and lift up. This is for every gear, and its the opposite to shift down, I have to slightly press up and then shift down. I read a couple forums on here just now stating that some springs in the 81 models were susceptible to wear and tear and that they should be replaced. I haven't been able to find any how to videos, or any sites that sell these springs.

    So my questions are.

Am I right in guessing that my springs are broken due to the fact that it isnt going into the neutral pedal position after I shift?

Do you know where i can find a how to video on how to replace them?

Where can I buy the parts in order to do so?

Thank you all for your help on this.
