Hey y’all, I got a weird issue going on with my 82’ Seca 650. It’s intermittent but there have been times where just turning the key causes the starter to get power, times where the electric start works with no issues, and times where none of it works. Along with that the oil pressure light seems to have a mind of its own and will flicker on and off (just did an oil change per the manual and have checked oil level just to make sure, and it’s not an issue with the amount of oil) It seems like a short to ground to me but I’m curious if anyone else has had anything similar or has any advice. I do have all the wiring diagrams as well I’ll be honest I’m just completely flummoxed

Faulty starter solenoid? Cheap to replace. Disconnect oil sender switch plug see what light does. Check wiring from the switch sometimes it can get grounded on the frame if insulation is damaged. Check connector plugs from switch through harness.

You can connect jump leads from a battery directly to the starter a few times and bypass the electrical system to check the fault is not in the starter motor.

@Franz Yeah I just noticed the "How To: Test your starter circuit" under the diy section so i'm going to run through that when I get home from work.
