1982 xj550 charging problems

    Hello i currently obtained a 1982 xj550 it had a dead cell in the battery i ended up replacing that my voltage regulator ingnitor and my alternator brushes and stators reads 11.5 volts when running at 4500 rpm and started with 12 volts now down to 11.7 after riding 2 hours help im lost

    Ok i have replaced my battery,voltage regulator,ignitor,stator and alternator brushes it only reads 11.5 volts while running and drains the battery any ideas?

    you replaced battery
    replaced voltage regulator
    replaced ignitor
    replaced stator
    replaced alt brushes

    did you replace stator?? or just the brushes?

    you need to clean the 2 copper rings that the brushes ride on . did you replace brushes as an assembly? springs may be week.

    ohm out your charging system as discribed in the link posted above
    also a new battery can still be a bad battery
