Rebuilt front brakes today. used a grease gun to get the stuck pistons out, worked like a charm! About an hour total to rebuild both calipers, replace pads and put back on the bike. Need to order my new lines and get fluid. Going with DOT5 since my new MC requires it, cleaned the calipers real good of any DOT3 and the junction too.

All that is left is a little wiring, exhaust and rebuild carbs and its on the road!

Finished the last of the wiring today, that is, unless an Gremlins rear their ugly heads when its starting time, but I think I'm in good shape. Items left to complete:

    1. Fork seals
    2. Carb rebuild
    3. Exhaust
    4.Tune
    5. RIDE

You're going to want to reinforce your frame by welding a bar between the shock mounts, or the frame will flex and it will weave. Nothing a good welder can't handle.

    Does look good though.

Good catch KDub, the brace could be disguised as a seat mount or the rear fender mount, but you will definitely need a brace in there somewhere.

Thanks. Where are you talking about adding a brace? There is a cross brace right under the seat, not much forward of the springs in the seat.

What risers did you use to allow for 1" bars.

I used risers for HD, only mod I had to make was to slightly open up the bolt hole in the top of the tree to 1/2".

    Nice,
I am thinking that the 7/8" bars seem kinda flimsy. I used the top and bottom from an 83 and got rid of the Two piece bars. Now you have me thinking about getting something beefier.
    Thanks

I've added the brace in red. It doesn't necessarily have to be a hoop, just join the two ends of the frame together.

Todays work, mocked up the fuel sight gauge, drilled my holes, removed debris from said drilling, sanded the paint around the area and sat back and stared at for a half hour or so....

And the postal service is killin me! I also ordered my new stainless brake hoses that should have been here yesterday, but nope, got missent out of a sorting facility, now when I track it it's in another town "out for delivery", grrrr, I want to install them and fill with fluid and be done with the brakes. So, what have I done with the brakes? New shoes in the rear, total rebuild of the calipers, new pads, new MC, and one day I might even have new lines, all upgraded to DOT5 being as the MC requires it.

What is the length of the hose your using for fuel gauge? Where did you get the setup/cost? I'm really wanting to do this too. I found a pretty decent package on ebay for $29. They offer colored lines too...
