I got the light off of ebay. Check it out Here . Mine was cheaper, I bought it from a guy who didn't want his anymore but it was this same light.

Oh man, I just had to look down at my wrist and I saw the exact same band. :) I wish I would have seen that light when I put the one on my Seca. It is teardrop shaped in the back and required a lot more wire bundling/hiding than yours.

The wiring wasn't hard, its a three wire set up with ground, low, and high beam... all of the wires in the headlight have different connectors or color coding. Looked tough but ended up being easy. Its a bulb and not a sealed beam which is what i wanted. Only problem i had is that the whole thing is deeper than the stock light and i had to make a bracket for it. There should be pics on page two.

    Just a small update.

I decided since it was rainy out and it was going to be for a few days id work on the bike more. I wrapped the exhaust, used 50ft of 1 inch wide wrap and ran out before i could finish... turns out it was sunny and nice, but I'm not riding right now because of the headers. Meanwhile i was going to do a few things to the bike just had questions about it.

    1) If i get shorter shocks i want to remove the rear fender. not that i need to i think it'll look better though. I am sure I'm capable of this but are there any tricks or something i should look out for when doing this.

    2) Where is a good place to buy clip-ons? or i may make my own custom handlebars.

    3) Planning on doing some fiberglassing. again any secrets on that, never did it before but I'm confident I can do it. I paper mache a mean pinata.JK

So here are a few more things I've done.

    ^Wrapped my headers.

^Added this new windshield. Kinda has the Norton/cafe racer look

^In some other threads some people asked how you can tell what size engine you have. mine happens to be 748cc.

Hey, I'm thinking of adding a fairing to my Maxim - I saw hundreds (literally) of adds for that fairing on ebay. How easily did it attach, how much vibration is there, etc? Likes/dislikes? Thanks for any input you can provide...

As of "right now" I'm not a BIG fan of ur fairing/windshield... It looks "2 me" like it doesn't follow ur bikes lines.. But then again ur build isn't done yet!?!

Maximontherocks: I haven't really driven enough to see if i really love it, but i do like the way it looks, reminds me of an old norton. goes in pretty easy, if someone has one for sale but is missing the hardware for some reason i got an extra set of hardware, ill send it to you for price of shipping. It seems to be on there pretty tight, no more vibrations than anything else really at speeds of 60mph. really keeps the wind of your chest. most of all it covered up that ugly gauge box really good and the way it lined up it looked like it was made to fit on this exact bike.

Kaos: I understand, That picture really isn't that great, kind of a bad angle in the picture, I think i may make a new bracket for the headlight and lower the light and fairing, but if i do that i want to lower the bike first, I'm also getting rid of those big turn signals for some smaller ones my buddy is giving me. so can't lower that screen until i do that. here's a picture that gives off more of a norton commando look.

^At first i was going to do a boober style with ape hangars and the such, but i realized that i really like the way the old cafe racers and Nortons looked.

^I made this logo up, thought it would look cool, give more of the norton feel.

I'll reserve judgment for now but I'm wary of that fairing too. Your bike was pretty cool before..

Like the muffler wrap though, I'm officially stealing that idea. Been thinkingof doing it and it's good to see it on a bike. Let us know if any of the supposed "performance" gains are true.

Good work all around- keep us posted.

Nice work so far, man! I'm watching this build closely.

+1 for addressing that fish-finder that's attached to the handlebars

+1, -1 on that fairing. It seems like it belongs on a different bike... Something with 'rounder' curves. Maybe it's better in person.

-1 on the logo. I say let the Yamaha be a Yamaha.

Those are, obviously, just my opinions, so you can take them for what they are worth.

^I photoshopped this fairing a lower, i think after looking at it i want to lower the headlight and fairing a few inches.

Personally, I'd try and avoid the "boober" look...as a new rider, I try to avoid looking like a boob on the bike as much as possible!

I finished up with the exhaust wrap, looks good. I also bought a set of drag bars and put those on the bike, only problem is they hit the tank before i can get all the way to lock... parking lot maneuvers are not easy.

Huckersteve: I don't know if I gain any power or not, but i can tell its working, the headers are not as hot to the touch so it is insulating good, now the muffler gets a lot hotter though.

^So i put on new drag bars and lowered the fairing to match the lines better.

^This is just a side view of the bike with it lowered. A lot closer to the lines of the bike.

^Hid the fish finder pretty good, tucked into the fairing nicely.

You may notice in the last picture that my left mirror is gone!... It broke of riding down the rode the other day. lucky for me my neighbor had some stock Harley ones for me for the low low price of, FREE, how could i refuse. I put them on but it's 11:00 here and it is way to dark, I'll take some more pics tomorrow.
