There is an '82 xj650 Maxim for cheap that I am looking to buy as a parts bike for my '82 xj650r Seca. I know a lot of parts are compatible, I am just not sure which ones they are. I would like to buy the Maxim for the carbs and air box mostly, but I am wondering if there will be any other parts i can salvage from it (i.e. the exhaust, electrical, starter, stator, regulator/rectifier, battery box, any engine parts, ANYTHING). I have some pictures that I'll attach as well just to make sure this is the right bike. Thanks!

If nothing else you could part it out , the carbs should fit and airbox , the 650 secs is worth saving , I cannot say for sure what would interchange .

    I agree. Save the seca!

I know the forks won't be completely compatible because of the dual calipers on the seca compared to the single caliper on the maxim, but maybe the stanchions would be interchangeable??

I would love to save as much of the seca compatible parts on the maxim as possible, but I'll part out the rest of the bike to anyone that needs '82 xj650 maxim parts as well! it looks like a prett clean bike. It's just been sitting under the sun with a cover, so hopefully I can save a few parts!

If anyone else knows of '82 xj650 maxim/seca compatible parts, let me know!

    Thanks!
