Also found pieces of the chain guide jammed in shift drum. After it was able to shift into 1st 2nd and 3rd gear but my guess is there are more pieces jamming it

What ever you do do NOT pry with a screw driver on mating surface, and only use a rubber mallet to tap , plastic wedges are only thing to try to split case .

Is it supposed to be that hard to split? I must be missing something around the piston crank shaft im not sure what is still holding it together...

pretty sure the 650 is similar. ive just been researching the same thing before i wade in and pull everything apart.

Do you have the oil pan off? There are bolts holding the crankcase together under that I am sure.

all bolts under oil pan have to come off. But yes, it is a tight fit that will take a while to come apart. I wacked it for a while all around and in every position. Got tired of beating it with a rubber mallet and left it for the night. Came back the next day and did it again, after 2-3 minutes of more wacking it finally showed signs of separating. Then I just followed the opened seam and continued wacking gently upwards and moved as it opened up more.

The 750 will fit right in. You just have to make sure you get the correct engine mounts, and make sure you have the correct shifter cover. It is possible to even shoehorn a 900 engine in, too, but you gotta be a bit more fussy.

len Chacal has engine swap write-ups. They’re here in the forums.
