I have for sale a 1983 XJ750 Maxim with a clean VIN I bought this bike back in March from a retired motorcycle mechanic with the hopes of turning it into a cafe racer themed bike. I have gone through and rebuilt as much as I can with the available time I have. I have also upgraded/modernized a lot of the motorcycle as well. To start, the bike has 15,XXX original miles on it, that’s on average about only 400 miles a year since it’s inception. On the bike I have gone ahead and rebuilt the carburetors, there are four since it is in inline four vehicle. I have gone through rewired most of the vehicle and the electronics work like a charm. I installed new low current aftermarket LED turn signals, that are about the size of a quarter, purchased from Revival Cycles (Amber up front, red in the back). I have upgraded from the old style bus fuse system the bike used and installed a more “modern” ATC style fuse system and replaced the wires running to and from. I ditched the stock mufflers for something a little louder and through on some EMGO aftermarket short mufflers to really hear the bike run, it’s loud. As for the handlebars, I got rid of the old chrome buckhorns and through on some satin black 27 inch drag bars accompanied with a set of tacky gum colored Vans Grips. I also replaced the front brake master cylinder along with a new braided stainless steel brake line down to the union joint. As for the cafe racer-esque qualities of the bike, I chopped the rear subframe right over the rear axle and and I installed the LED turn signals in the frame tube ends. I have also purchased a cafe racer seat in black leather. I was really excited to tackle this project and build myself a custom motorcycle, unfortunately I have just run out of time and space with my new job. I purchased the bike non-running back in March for $700, and I have put in about $800 of parts back into the bike to get it to what I’ envisioned. The only thing this bikes need to be riding and road worthy, is the throttle shaft seals must be replaced on the carburetor rack, the seat be mounted, and the tank slapped back on. I am just looking to move this bike onto to someone who wants to finish the job and enjoy a great classic motorcycle. The bike comes with 2 keys, clean title, new-ish battery, and new spark plugs. As rare as it may seem, I also have the original side covers for the bike, both left and right. The bike has compression, spark, and when fed gas, gas. All it needs is some minor tweaking and tinkering to get this thing on the road. Like I said, I just don’t have the time or space to work on the bike anymore and just want to move it. All parts were purchased from reputable dealers/websites (DimeCityCycles, Revival Cycles, and XjBikes$. I am asking $1,200 OBO. Bike also comes with a new set of NGK spark plugs, a brand new Vacuum Sync Kit for the carbs, as well as the YICS tool to dial in the tuning of the bike, plus the Clymer Manual to go along with it. Let me know your offer, I am interested in moving the bike quickly. Clean title, two keys, and everything to get it going. I’m located in Jamesville, NY. Reach out to me if you have any questions about the bike.
