    Hi all,
I've done everything that all of the forums said to remove the rear wheel on my Maxim. It just doesn't want to come off. I downloaded the PDF for changing brakes to see if there was anything further there as well. Can anybody give me any tips or tricks to make it easier? BTW I'm not a huge lady so brute strength isn't an option.

    WolfRK,

Welcome to the forum and a fellow Wisconsin person as well. Make sure the bike is really well supported so that it will not come off the center stand and fall on you. I normally put some ratchet straps over the beams in my shed to hold the bike in place. If you have a broom handle (so you don't scratch the wheel) or a pipe that you can wrap with a rag (again so you don't scratch the wheel). Use that handle to put some leverage on the wheel to work it off the gear. That or take a rubber hammer if you have one and you can carefully tap the top and bottom of the tire and it should work it's way off the gear. I hope this helps and good luck.

I live in Tomah by LaCrosse if you are close to may area let me know.

Hi Timbox, Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely try those things out! The dealer has had my new tires for almost 3 weeks and all my "help" ........didn't!

    If you have:

    -The brake stay disconnected
-the castle nut and washer off
    -the punch bolt loosened
--the brake pedal rod separated from the brake arm
    -the rear axle freely pivots

But yet the axle wont come out---- your axle is seized to the spacer.. you will have to get a drift and a sledge to drive the axle out.

If your axle is already out but the RIM just won't let go---- you'll have to turn and hammer the rim from the left side to MAKE the shoes get past the ridge.

Last resort, but not the end of the world.... break up the brake cover, there's plenty more available .

    Dave

Well how is the bike coming along? Did you get the tire off and if so is all okay? We need to see some pics of the bike too, when you get a chance.
