Well I started my bike for a few minutes. Cut it off then when I tried to start it again it fired then just died. Ignition Fuse was blown so I replaced it and could literally watch them pop as I hit the start button! Also pooped the main fuse! Start button seems touchy and sometimes doesn’t seem to connect right when you press it. Could it be the start button? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!!

I checked the start button and everything looks ok. I’ve noticed it’s popping the ignition fuse and it’s just as the bike is about to start. It’s like it’s sending a surge. It’s been fine until I replaced all my fuses. I put an automotive style fuse block on it years ago.

Guessing, you either have a bad starter solenoid or you have a wire that has rubber all the insulation off. That wire would run from starter button under the tank to the solenoid. Will the fuse blow even with the ignition off?

check the wiring where it rubs the frame when the bars are turned L to R.
I've seen this to cause blown fuses.

No it only blows after I hit the start button and the engine turns over for a few seconds. Then just as it starts to fire up it pops.

Well I unhooked the connector for the left side handle bar controls and it stopped blowing the ignition fuse. Also the guage lights started working again. They had stopped working after I got the wires in the headlight bucket hooked back up. Had some trouble getting the turn signals hooked back up and working as someone has been in there before and did a lot of splicing on and such. Even though I had the turn signals and things working there is evidently something hooked up wrong. Will have to revisit the headlight bucket I reckon

Would be great to see some pics of that left handle bar control, next time you get in there. Those little contacts are interesting to solder, takes a bit to get them correct.

Good troubleshooting and way to stick with it.

Normally there is no ignition power routed to the left handlebar control, so either some creative wiring has been done or the head or signal fuse was the one blowing along with the main.

Since you mentioned you had to start it then most likely it would have been the Head fuse as the headlight relay routes power to the left control after startup

It is quite easy to pinch a wire when closing the controls resulting in as short to ground
