Spotted the oil level sensor cable hanging below my bike when I went to start it up , ready for Spring.
The cable from the sensor is about 2 feet long but I couldn't find an obvious place to connect it..
..this maybe becasue the wire colour is white on this motor (YX or FZ 600) and should be red/black I think.
Ultimately I think it goes to the diode block in teh haedlight bowl but I think there must be another connection before that.

It started fine btw once I jumped it from my car.

    Cheers

on the XJ600, (which should be the same as the Fj600 and YX600) , there is a connector near the top of the middle frame tube around the air box area, its a bullet connector to the red/black wire

Ta - most of the bike is an '83 550. I was looking for a white connector at first.. I think perhaps I'll have teh tank off as there was nothing obvious under the seat/airbox area. Cheers
