No offense, but owning a business and perhaps overpricing a couple items does not equate to a character of greed and corruption. This is a free market, and individuals are free to set whatever price they want...but within reason of course if they want to make a sale. My input and intention earlier was directed at how this forum, like many other forums, is where one is likely to expect better prices than ebay. Regardless of their own circumstances, sellers are free to set prices as they like. In this case, I think a couple of us wanted to simply hint that some of this guy's prices seemed over the top, and something he may want to consider.

However, it's not fair to cast any businessman as "greedy". Greed & corruption are not exclusive to corporations, big or small. Gov't has it's fair share of greed/corruption, ie Freddie Mac/Fannie Mae cooking the books with no accountability to the taxpayer. Corporations have been involved in many a scandal too. But 60 percent of business in America is small business. Right now, most are suffering and many going bankrupt. Profit is not greed, nor corruption, profit is incentive. Investors deal with risk & reward. Take away profit and there goes incentive, for investors & producers.

In all fairness, the target should not be placed on any free market entity nor on the system itself. I didn't want to get political, but wanted to balance things out here. Amid all this outrageous/misdirected protesting in the streets!...We (Americans) all live in a great country - the greatest country - because of innovation, incentive to produce and/or deliver goods & services. It's a great system. (period)

BTW, regardless of politics :)...a shout out to all you VETERANS, this is YOUR DAY!

Here Here! Good comments all...and very valid points.
Is it greed or stupidity that compels one to pay $200 for a beanie baby? Is it the sellers fault if some schmuk is willing to pony up two bills for a $4 toy? How about a Honus Wagner autograph.....people would break their mother's leg to pay $1/2 million for that...
My point...things have value....that value may not be the same for you (the buyer) as they do to me (the seller)....in which case it's a ripoff, greed driven,,,whatever... but when something has more value to the buyer than the seller, we proudly announce how shrewd we are in our dealings.
I simply sent a pm to sam asking his price "shipped" to my location...came to find out we live in the same city, albeit on opposite ends. He shot me back a price, which I countered and he agreed to. Met him at his shop and looked over his other stuff....asked about some parts (thought he was high in more ways than one), saw some others that were very reasonable...if not down right a steal...and those I bought on sight. The other stuff, I just shook his hand and said "I'll have to think about it."
My point is; Don't call the guy greedy or a ripoff artist unless you've actually dealt with him. I HAVE, and I can tell you he dealt with me fair and square. Take it for what it's worth.... If I were paying $70+ for a fender, it better damn well be a beauty....and I'd for sure be asking lots of questions and getting lots of pictures...if I had the $70+ and was satisfied with what I saw/heard I'd buy and not look back...if not I'd continue to look around...if I found a better deal...so be it...good for me! But that would have no bearing on the stuff sam was selling.
Get off your moralistic high horse people....if you don't like the guys prices...move on...maybe that stuff'll still be sitting in sam's shop and he'll be more "flexible" next spring when I come a-knock'in.

I'm now up to my $0.04

HA, come on guys.... I have taken both Micro & Macro Economics and have two college degrees, the first being business administration. I come here to get away from all that!

Supply and demand blah blah blah.... As most of us here do and others also did, I simply tried to offer an educated opinion.

It's not as though I got on here and took it past the argument of supply vs. demand and questioned cost vs. benefit. Ha, lets go there! A guy has overhead so he wants more, that is fair. At some point the guy most consider the prolonged overhead that his prices have caused and exam cost/benefit ratio. Does he hold out for a better sale causing his overhead to rise and eat his profit or does he sell for a quicker/smaller return and direct his overhead to more production? HA........

Sam, my argument is not directed at you or yours. I genuinely hope you the best! I just wanted a seat on the bandwagon that is this ridiculous argument...sorry.

OMG! what did I start? oh wait did I start this? I don't know but it's real fun though. Greed vs. stupidity, it's all subjective, on another thread I brought to the groups attention a guy who's attempting to sell a set of carbs fo $648.00. But is it gouging? I think that gouging only comes in when an item is desparately needed, like in the case of a disaster. But since a set of carbs aren't in that category, I suppose in this case it's stupidity. What with such a generous supply of carbs on Ebay. I think we are all enriched by such debate, so let's keep it going. With debate comes thought, and with thought comes wisdom.

    Thanks!

Those carbs are/were very reasonably priced, no matter what to condition, the guy on Ebay has a set for the unreasonable price of $648. The set I bought off Ebay set me back $150 and they are very nice.
