Last night I got the front brakes working and cleaned up some electrical work. I have to mount the horn and install the crossover gasket and she is "road worthy"! Gasket should arrive later this week.

So hopefully next week I get to haul her down for the DMV inspection and get the Bonded Title process underway. That consists of the inspection, affidavit of facts (why no title) the bond and the title application. I have heard it can be a nightmare - we shall see.

Mean time I will probably go back to cleaning her up some more.

ahh, this is just too funny, in michigan, you just need a bill of sale and some money to get a title, and inspection? fogetaboutit! just get her in sured and pay like 15 bucks for registration, and ur on the road, braks or no brakes

yea same in Maine too NC is real picky about titles. Gonna be about $150 in bond and fees but what can you do. The first inspection is to make sure it is not stolen and that it is road worthy. I will still have to get the regular safety inspection to get a registration and plate.

Oooooh getting close, I remember that feeling when I was almost finished mine :)

I get to do the steering head bearings and most likely fork seals again before inspection this year....

Well she is ready for the inspection. I bought the bond so I hope to take her next Friday get the inspection and file all the title papers. Thanks to DWCOPPLE's spare parts I have a good clutch lever and a straight headlight mount.

The shining has been coming along too. Will try and get some pics today.

Thought I would share my brake lever repair. The bike has obviously been down hard at least once. It is in surprisingly good shape considering. The foot pad was broken off. So I ground it flat and laminated a couple of pieces of steel with JBWeld.

Then I tapped the post and put a screw through the steel with a liberal amount of JBWeld coating it and around the shaft.

After all that dried I ground the screw top flat and laid a layer of JBWeld over the top of the pad and built up around the shaft some more. When dried I added some friction tape to the top.

Not sure how long it will last but I have put 5 miles on the bike up and down my street, including trying panic stops several times. These pics are after all that and look like the moment I finished the repair.
