85-86 XJ 750/00 Maxim x / XJ standard exhaust compatibility

    The exhaust on Maxim x is crumbling.

    Some research seems to indicate the mufflers for this family of bikes are the same. Maxim X vs Maxim.

    I am wondering about the rest of the bike. Are the collector and primary pipes the same as well?

    The 85/86 xj700/750/X non-engine-specific parts are all interchangeable with few issues. Here are known differences

    X wiring harnes has wires for temp gauge, not on airhead
    seats interchange, but X has extra buttons

    big list, huh?

    Go ahead and swap the whole exhaust system!
