Most countrys have got rid of lead in their fuel. Even NZ got rid of it years ago. The lead stopped the valves eating into the head where they seat direct on the casting.

The manuals for these bikes (apart from the turbo) state regular fuel and say nothing about lead in the petrol, they must have hardened valve seats so no additive will be needed.

My old '72 HQ holden needed premium and additive but my '84 VH Commodore runs on regular with (sometimes) additive.

I like all this mention of Marval Mystery Oil. My Grampa had a top end oiler filled with Marval Mystery Oil that was used on Great Grampa's 1934 Packard V-12. My Uncle still has the top oiler in his garage.

Marval Mystery Oil has been around a long time.

So, would Marval be a better top end oil then synthetic two stroke? I use about an ounce per four gallons...Jim... Corona, Calif.

OK I tried Premium fuel here. BP Ultimate rated at 98 Octane on the RON scale. Regular here is 91 RON. BP claims more power and smoother running. By the time I had used two litres the idle started to hunt. By the time half a tank was gone the bike was idling bad. At three quaters gone the bike would hardly start and was only running on three. Pulled the plugs, black soot.
