You want a silicone or Viton o-ring to take the heat. I'd put a silicone one in there, as they are good for a couple of hundred degrees.

Well I pulled the sensor this weekend and the oring seemed to be in good shape, but I replaced it anyway. I think the sensor itself is leaking out through the plastic that holds the wire into the bottom. Is this possible?

MacMcMacmac, you should be able to get by on a regular rubber o-ring as your oil shouldn't ever get above 350 F, but as you've pointed out the Viton is a great way to go to cover your six. Nighttrain, yes, and, if your really hard up, you can carefully re-seal it with new epoxy as long as you undercut the old sealant. If that doesn't fix it, your up a creek, you'll need a new sender (unless your really brave and don't need it). Good luck!

    Robert,
What would I need to do? Would cutting down the plastic with something like a dremel work? And then I just fill it in with a layer of epoxy? You said if I wanted to get by without the sensor I could, but one would still have to find a way to plug up the hole or am I missing the point? Thanks...
I don't really want to go without the sensor anyway, just curious as to what you had in mind. The leak is really not that bad, but I know its there and well, it bothers me. LOL
