Ahh the sweet sounds of cam chain noise!

    Well after getting the old girl on the road for the first roads tests, we have had some phantoms to exorcise, now we have a sloppy cam chain!

    I am almost at the point where I want to unload it on someone else, but I will enlist the help of a buddy and pull the tank and top off and see what it looks like in there. If we believe the speedo it only has 17K km on it, so we will start with the adjuster and then check the chain.

    Some one toll me that this noise is pretty usual and will be back right when you think you fixed it... mine xj has 54.000 miles and always has that noise when idles.... let me know how it went.... thanks

    i hear my cam chain when the idle gets down to around 800 rpm, like if i shut the choke too soon. once it gets back ti 1100-1200 it's happy again

    Mr science was thinking, the guides are worn, the spring in the tensioner is 30 years old. maybe a new front guide and a new spring might be in order.
    wonder if Chacal has those springs?
