I have a 1983 Maxim 650. Owned it for a couple months now. My problem is that when I use the turn signals they will only work if I hold the switch with my thumb. It wont stay blinking if I let go of it. I got a used switch from the salvage yard and that one didnt blink at all just made them glow steady. And I cant find an aftermarket one with a choke lever. I took the switch apart and blasted it with electrical cleaner and still nothing. Any suggestions? I ran a search but no luck.

    Thanks!

Go one step further and take the switches apart and clean the contacts with a scotch-brite pad. Get the brass contacts shiny clean and reassamble with some switch lube(bulb grease from the autoparts store works also). Be carefull not to loose the small springs and detent ball.
