It had better come assembled, and with a parts bike for the asking price.

AND--- he has the SAME bike posted on two auctions.

Funny how it's been "garaged almost all its life"-----he must have some incredibly bright lights in the garage to make the guages fade to white like that.

i wonder what happened that he had to put $2.5k into the engine..........Then go and put a 4/1 onto it-----

THAT being said, though, it does appear to be pretty clean.

With only a feedback of 1, I don't think he's gonna have much interest other than people looking

You forgot about the ever-rolling floor of the garage, which is how it attained almost 45,000 miles in it.

    my .02:

I get worried about a vehicle that doesn't have 'enough' miles on it. Seems like this one has sat motionless for a good chunk of time. Regular oil changes probably missed, bearings not rolled, top half of seals dried out, silly stuff like that - but also important to a reliable bike. They are built to move down the road, not sit in the back of someone's shed.

The bike looks nice and looks fast, but one may be facing more maintenance/ refurbishing issues than a bike that has 3 times as much mileage.

Stumpy, your 2cents are worth a nickel when you consider the wet clutch that fj has (I think). Half the clutch dries out,the other half soaks, and you have to replace the discs. Still like the FJ though. The broken plastics would be tough to replace too.

I was just talking about this with crazygnat, take pods off and hook airbox up, wonder if he put bigger jets in it or not? Either way I'd lose the pods and check carbs and see where that leads....

And I bet the valves haven't been checked..... the gauges are faded so it's spent a lot of time outdoor.

There's plenty of rust on the shocks, the ugly 4/1 exhaust, the mirrors, and the carb hats.

    The battery cover is missing

Ditch the "economy-level highway 'bar' "

Why is the anchor for the clutch cable missing?

Why was the seat cover replaced with only 7k on the bike?

Why are there pink wires spliced in all round the battery?

What else has been hacked with wiring?

Why is the rest left signal mount bent?

No need to bring up the previously-mentioned pods, etc....

Wave $500 cash in front of their nose and see---

Was also thinking it has sat outdoors for quite some time, as evidenced by that rough looking exhaust, rust on the mirror chrome, and surface rust elsewhere. But some of the chrome in other places and parts of the engine don't look too bad....hence my chrome polish comment.

Wiring is definitely looking pretty funky. This listing is about 3hrs from me also, have enough going on with my '82...this would have to be a giveaway. Might very well be 107k on it. Hopefully he has it listed high expecting it to sell much lower and someone keeps a running bike on the trail.

Those pink wires go up to the area of the right controls. Hmmm

    107k....very good possibility.

    Starter end looks beat

Gauges have been removed and remounted incorrectly

Upper fork tubes have pretty substantial rust between the clamps

    Fork emblem is rough
More funky wires around the headlight bucket

Trip meter hasn't been reset in awhile--- hmmmm

Is the petcock set to PRI or RES

BACK TO THE ORIGINAL QUESTION: "Should I start saving my pennies?" Well, if you're thinking of getting another bike---yes.

If you're thinking of getting THIS bike.... no.
