It WAS an xj700 — lol

yet another case where “I’m gonna BOB it.....”. Becomes “uh-oh, I have NO clue what I’m doing..... I’m in Waaay over my head. Screw it, I’m gonna sell to some poor sucker who has NO clue, and get ALL my money back”

To be fair, failed bobber projects can be a great source for parts if they have what you need!

Well he’s correct, it only needs a wiring harness and starter switch to be a pile of junk with a wiring harness and a starter switch.

It looks to have the genuine Yamaha touring package (full fairing, trunk, saddle bags). The accessories are worth the asking price.

I suppose this could be made into an interesting pit bike/ride. Most likely for less than the price/cost of one of those bar stool pit bike things. That huge tire & wheel are worth the price, if you need it to match one you already have.

A little more frame work for a seat and a front hand brake and you'd have something.

I have worked on many Virago 750's, beside the starter gear they are not that bad. The 750's seem to have bad head gaskets a lot of the time. Finding a nice 1100 is hard to do but worth it if you can find one.

I am at fault for that as well, I will only post the over priced and funny ones here from now on. I will put the other in the "for sale" area. Thanks for keeping me in check @k-moe.

I suggest we continue to post whatever we see interesting from our local classifieds here, or start another thread, doesn't matter.
Better to keep this out of the "for sale" section.
For the simple reason the hangout lounge is to invite discussion, good bad or funny.
The "for sale" section should not be used for discussions except between potential buyer and seller.
People may be reluctant to post an add if they're going to see criticism.
Price is too high, paint is mismatched, whatever.

How would it seem if you were selling an item, potential buyer comes to see it and all your neighbors gather round and start nitpicking it.

Looks like it doesn't need keys, just a screwdriver. Also missing pegs. What's with the windscreen?

Actually, that's a VERY rare optional gauge cover/shroud unit that could be ordered as an accessory from the dealer (was also available for 750 Seca and 750 Maxim clusters, although different in shape, size). The one shown will also fit XJ650 Maxim and 1983 XJ750 Maxim models (since they all use the same clusters). Perhaps it also served as a "mini-windscreen" in some minor capacity, but the intent was to "shadow" the gauges from the weather and light.

Good for you! That looks like it should be easy (for those that know what they are doing) to scan and 3D print. As rare as those are might it make it more worth the time for it.

The guy even asked me “Are these worth alot?”
I didn’t really know how to answer though, I did say they are very rare, but I’ve never seen one for sale or a price

he did mention he had a friend who does 3d printing and scanning and could make them and sell them

But I dont know how well they’d sell, or for how much

Good grief.... I hardly know where to begin——
    Missing:
    Right side cover
    Right engine guard
    Right foot peg
    Right engine cover
    Turn signals
    Fairing assembly
    Cluster
    Air scoops

    wrong:
    Mirrors
    Seat cover
    Grips
    Tires
    Headlight/lights assembly
    Color
    Emblems

I’m not being picky, just observing.
