Another newbie saying hi.

Just picked up my '82 750 maxim. I'm sooooo stocked 8O
Credit given where credit's due: the knowledge displayed on
these forums was the deciding factor on getting my maxim instead of any other random early 80's cruiser/tourer.
As usual the POs didn't give a damn or just didn't know any better;
fixed the OEM fuse box with your "standard" in-line fuses,
28 yr old, well rusted bolts/screw,
general automotive oil making the clutch act up, etc etc.
Which brings me to my first Q' here
Looking around for oil filters I found some on fleabay; 5 for $19, considering I'll probably use them up in the next 2 seasons that seems like a good deal. But individual filters go for about $8.
So 5 for $19 would that be a good deal or a box of "you get what you pay for" POS?
Oh and, almost forgot, any1 succesfully used a screw/bolt extractor like "grab it" on a screw of the master cylinder?

welcome to the sight all the little touches and cleaning is what makes your bike personalized. as long as you dont mind doing a little work and cleanup here and there you will get alout of enjoyment out of it . bought 1 of those brand new was a great bike was the first brand new bike i ever had loved it traded it in on a 900 seca .had to sell that needed the money then bought a 750 seca brand new it was an 82 leftover bought it in 86 for 1800 bucks off the showroom floor wish i could still buy them that cheap . enjoy the bike and the sight

 

WELCOME from TN. Can't help with those filters. I've always just bought the singles. The extractors sometimes work and sometimes not. If you are gonna go that route, buy name brand (Craftsman). Get some GOOD penetrating oil. Have always used PB Blaster myself. Several swear by Kroil, saying it's better than other brands...
