any cheaper carb tune routes?

i wanna do a carbtune on my bike and noticed all the carbtune tools out there are 100$ ish. is there anything else out there that is cheaper or of that sort? i need to obtain a YICS tool as well.

A "single loop" Manometer will be the easiest thing to build for a running sync,
and,
stuffing the YICS with oily rag strips is the cheapest block-off "tool"

But building a 4-tube water Manometer is the next best thing to spending $100. for a running sync.

 

i was looking at the innards of the carbtune on google and all the channels look separated. couldnt i just find 4 cheap vacuum meters and go that way as well? i like the designs of the link you posted but if i did 2 carbs at a time on my bike id feel like id screw it up more than help it. is the sync sequence for 2 carbs 1,3;2,4;1,4?

 

Cheap vacuum gauges may lead you to inaccurate readings and frustration. I wouldn't buy 4 of them, iwouldn't be confident they would give me consistent readings.

Correct sync sequence is:

A)#1 to #2 by adjusting sync screw located between the said carbs;

B)then sync #4 to #3, by turning the sync screw between the said carbs

C)match #2 with #3 by turning sync screw located between #2 and #3 carbs. Both pairs 1-2 and 3-4 should then be equalized.

D) adjust idle speed

As recommended in the service manual.
