I'm not on the mainland but I'm only a twist away! 8)
i was in kewlona, checked out the pick n pull there and what do i see... a 82 yamaha 650 maxim, bought the carbs for 25 bucks the whole bikes stil there if anyone needs parts : )
I'm in Sooke and I just bought an 82 Seca 750 3 days ago. It was very difficult to start cold, so I followed the procedure to clean the choke circuit. Starts right away now - all praise to whoever created and posted the detailed instructions found on this forum. Thanks to this website, I now have an owner and service manual, too.
I'm a ferry ride away...though am planning a trip on the island in the near future.
It's good to hear from you all, nice score there Sooke! 8)
HEY!~ I just notice my status went up from 'wannabe' to 'gear grinder'! I could just cry. sniff.
YVRxj650, when you know the date let me know; maybe we go for a ride. By the way, if you've not ridden here before, the drivers hear are slow and stupid. They signal like 20 times before a lane change and take 30 to 40 seconds just to get through an intersection. When I was in Hope earlier this summer I couldn't get over how EVERYONE knows what the f**k they're doing! People on the mainland seem to actually understand the the roads support MUCH higher speeds than those posted and only signal once to change lanes- oh, and they do it right away too!
As I said in my recent introductory post (with pics) in the general forum....I have just applied for collector plates for my bike. It takes a couple weeks, and in the interim, the bike is not insured. I have a permit to ride this weekend, tho.
As for coming to the island, have family in esquimalt, and head over a few times each summer. If/when I bring the maxim, I'll drop you a note. Cheers.
Im in Comox, haven't got it yet, but in the process of getting an '85 XJ750
I'm in Victoria and just bought a Maxim XS400J. Will be looking for people to ride with to help me get my license.
I'm in courtenay.
For anyone on the island who is interested, I have just started a thread for a planned XJ ride in Vancouver and the lower mainland on May 29, 2010.
Details to follow.
New owner here, bought the bike in Calgary but I will be spending most of my time with the bike out in Victoria assuming I get it running by the time I move out there. I look forward to riding some nice roads out there and maybe meeting up wiht some of you.
I'm moving from Calgary to Victoria for September. See ya on the streets!
Hey guys im in Vic. Just about to rent a place with a nice little garage to work on my bike. Hopeing to start chopping up my 82 XJ650 to make it into a bobber this winter. If anyone has experiance with somthing like that I would love the input.
Victoria with an '83 XJ900 Seca
I get to the Island form time to time to visit family in Nanaimo and like to head down island on the Malahat run and stop in Goldstream Park.
Hope to see you sometime, nice looking bike!
i just noticed this thread, i'm in victoria and would love to go for a ride with some other xjers sometime.
I am planning some Island rides in the New Year and will be sure to give you a shout before I head over your way.
I usually do circle ferry and bike trips between Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo and back through Horseshoe Bay into Vancouver again.
I am just recovering from some medical issues and can't wait to put insurance back on my bikes and get riding as soon as possible in 2011!
As the name suggests, I'm in Duncan and just bought an 82 750 Seca. The bike was collector plated so that's what I plan on doing next. -Regards, Rick
