If you wanted it I was just going to take it over to FedEx and get it on its way and send you a copy of the shipping receipt. I have no idea the shipping costs unless I were to box it and take it over there and get a quote. I am not looking to make any money but I don't want to spend two trips getting it to you. So let me know how you would like to get it and if you don't want the diff to lighten the load.

Dang, didn't realize they could twist like that. Like previously mentioned, there are much worse setbacks.

They CAN..... It just takes a fair bit of force to to do so---- like say, running over by a truck for example.....

Anyway, I'm more impressed that the frame appears to still be straight. Obviously the swingarm took/absorbed all the twisting force.

By the looks of the rear wheel , it makes perfect sense that something else took part of that impact.

I know you'll probably take the one from MN... That's cool, he can get it out a whole lot quicker than I can--- of course, it's probably already in the mail as I type.....

Anyway, I just checked.... I have at least 4 swingarms, so you're covered any way you look at it---

Look closely...it's twisted at the right pinch bolt mount and the and left arm. If the right arm was twisted razz would not have been able to locate the right shock.

Gary, it's still twisted... If he had put the left shock on first, the right side shock would not be aligned.

I agree...it'll be easier and safer to replace than try to fix. I was trying to show jay exactly where it's twisted. I don't think razz could locate the left shock first without force because that arm is twisted. The pinch bolt mount on the right arm twisted at the welds.

No doubt it's twisted for life, just can't imagine the hit the wheel would have to take to do that. Considering the bikes recent history, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Yes , it's twisted both sides.... Look at the angle of the rear gear unit, too.... It does not line up with stuff in the front

No prob, glad I could pitch in with a Fedex label. I've been watching this thread for an opportunity but everyone on here has been super helpful.

Can't wait to see it done, that first ride will be extremely rewarding.

Thanks bro. Trust me, I am thinking really hard on how to express my gratitude on a personal level to every one that has posted/contributed to this story. I am thinking about melting my broken rear tire down and making some kind of xj related trinket/key chain for all of you. That way you will really become part of this saga.

Your story started bad with the bike gone. Then then it got worse with the recovery of what was done. The emotional cords were struck in my heart as well as many others. At first it was disbelief , then anger, then sorrow. You decided to bring it back to life. It's kinda like you are the surgeon and we are all waiting in the waiting room outside with our fingers crossed your patient will live again and be ok. I guess that's the best way I can explain it. We are all rooting for the results.

    Here's my spin on this.
Razz you must have done good in your life and now it is coming back to you.
You know that karmic wheel thingy, people helping people, like a good neighbor, etc. etc.
This is how society should work all the time.

The best way to express your gratitude is to 'pay it forward'; give a helping hand to someone when they need it.

Hope you have enough parts to get the engine back in and you are not missing any of the hardware to do it. I have I box of those parts. If by chance you are missing something I just might have what you need. Let us know

Strange weather here, warmer than usual..... But too cold for a bike, enough snow between shop and road, but not enough to fire up a sled... EVERYTHING is hibernating at the moment---

I painted the case the day before. I can paint the case covers after installing the engine. That is on the agenda tomorrow, both crank covers, valve cover, and clutch cover. If i paint them afterwards there is no chance of damaging the paint while installing the mill. I will be prepping the exhaust and carbs for install tomorrow. I have to install the horn, fill the final drive, and sort out the turn signals, and install the lower controls.

And if you did not see the live feed here is today's progress.

I saw you drop a bolt when you were putting the clutch linkage back on the case . . .
Then you switched over to pulling wires . . .

Then I figured, I can't sit inside and watch this, it was just above 30F here and I need to fire up the tractor in preparation for what may be our biggest snowfall this year. Potential for a whopping 12", peanuts compared to what happened out east.

I was watching from my iPhone and my battery started to go. You had just slid the engine in. By the time I got charged up and back online you were done for the day. I must admit it was neat to see you working on it with some rock station playing in the background.

I tried watching from my phone, no dice. Caught some still here and there though.

Failed attempt at posting from phone after a few drinks at the bike show :D Wife was driving. I was piggybacking off Hogfiddles comment about the weather with a pic and failed. Figured it was unrelated to the thread anyhow so I deleted it. NM = Nevermind. I think a big FAIL would've been more appropriate!
