I have a query for the Aussie bikers.
Have any of you bought the XJCD?
    How did you pay?
I was recently told by Aus Post that they don't do international money orders anymore.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks

Skeeta..I went to th bank and bought a Canadian $10 note, had to wait a day or so 'til they got it and sent it off in th post in good faith and about 3 weeks later th CD,s arrived. That was th cheapest way I could find to do th deal.

    Hey Gents,

I got my XJCD via one of the Kiwi XJer's who was authorised to sell them in this hemisphere. I paid him via PayPal I believe.

Now onto more pressing matters. I've found my front left damper piston (the piston on the front forks which takes the brake fluid into the forks for the anti-dive mechanism on the XJ900) is cracked. The end result is that I can't build up any pressure in my front brakes.

    Anyone have any opinion on

    1) Whether I could bondo it or similar and get enough pressure
    2) Any recommendations for a place where I can get a part, or
    3) Most expensive option - where I can get a reconditioned set of forks?

Of my two usual wreckers, one went out of business and the other has no parts available.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Bondo+brakes= bad, I reckon. When Wizard was doing up his 900's I'm fairly sure he got some parts from a bloke in NZ 'Alive' try a PM.

Ok as an emergency fix, remove the brake hose going to the anti-dive valve, this can be done by using the short banjo bolt from the anti-dive end of the hose and using it to replace the long banjo bolt that was used to go through both hoses. (leaving the short hose off)

Can't think of the name at the moment, (the link is on my work PC) their is an online parts search which emails all the wreckers and they email you direct back if they have the part. There is a couple of XJ's being wrecked in Oz that probably would have what you want. do a bit of googling. I don't have access to forums via work, and i'm on the road this week, but i think Liverpool motorcycle wreckers was one of them.

Thanks for the feedback on the XJCD.
I have had a response from Dwayne who supplies it & he says he is happy to accept $10 AUS as payment. So I'll be sending the cash this week.

Thanks for your assistance guys. In the end, I couldn't find anyone in Australia with the part I am after so I'm going to order it from Chacal. He has always come through for me in the past.

    Hi all,
New XJ650 owner from central QLD.

Have any Aus owners bobbed their xjs? I am having a rather bad time trying to argue my mods to QLD transport/'approved persons'.

    Hi all
I have a quick question for the Aussie XJers.
Do any of you know where I might get a replacement windscreen for my '84 XJ900?
Mine has seen better days. I made the mistake of removing it yesterday and almost all the screw holes have cracks &/or pieces broken out.
Although I have done a quick repair it's not the prettiest thing at the moment.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Skeeta,
There is Eagle Fairings over her in WA (http://www.eaglescreens.com.au/) but there is also a place on your side of the country... I rang them to get a price and the lady I spoke to told me to send my old fairing screen and they'd copy it and send a new one back.
    Looking for the name...
I think it was AJ Plastics (https://www.ajpm.com.au/) but I haven't gone ahead with either yet so I can't give you a review.
    Hope it helps though.

LOL, shrimps are smaller and fresh water, use em as bait. I prefer Yabbies, (like a small fresh water cray) on the BBQ.

HI, im in Perth and have just purchased a 750P.
Can someone tell me what if anything is different mechanically on the police bike to other xj750 bikes.
Also if there are any other members in perth can anyone recommend someone good to tune the bike?
the bike came with spares including a good spare engine (taken from a dirt drag bike, with modified parts like cams, and a heavy duty clutch). if anyone wants this engine make me an offer. i can include a spare head, spare wheel and spare petrol tank (black), and maybe some other spares that came with the bike.

Welcome kpcart, congradulations on your purchase. XJ police bikes don't seem to come up in Vic., i don't think they used XJ's here (mainly BMW's). Can't help with the rest, but i'm sure someone from Perth will pop up and say hi.

    Hi All,

Can't remember if I've posted to this topic before but XJ900 (1985) owner here from inner Melbourne.

Good to hear that there a few XJ's going strong around the country.

I've seen one parked in a driveway nearby in Northcote but never the owner or seen it in the street. A ghost perhaps...

Take care over Xmas all and enjoy your XJ's.

    Hi all,

From Melbourne here. Just picked up an '80 XJ650 which has been sitting around for years housing spiders and water etc. Cleaned the float bowls, emptied the water out of the fuel tank, cleaned it out and put some fresh juice in it, got a battery for it and mucked around with a few other things and she fired up. Plan to do her up slowly. She's a bit rough.

    welcome to the fold!
I live over in werribee, I have spotted another xj650 1982, blue, riding around here too, and another in geelong sporting a small black "stone" fairing.

check the carby slide rubbers for cracks, mine were knackered, but used black silicon to solve problem.

good luck and post some pics into the gallery!

    cheers, Gareth

Hi Bob, Penguin is a nice little place on the beach from memory. Just finished talking to a friend in Tassie on 2 weeks holiday, over their for a Farride last week and a Saddlesore 1600, completed it in 19.5hrs so he decide to continue and make it an SS2000. 2,000km in 24hrs 2 up,in Tassie now thats keen riding (on a 1986 GTR1000), doesn't like your fog thou, worst he's ever seen. You've definately got some nice riding country there Bob, bit more exciting than flat open country up here! :D
