Ditto's for me too Mark...I hate to see things like this happen to fellow bikers anywhere but this time it was too close to home. Hang in there Bill and get well for us all. I'll pray for you and your family in hopes for better days ahead.

I am new here and this is my first post, but my thoughts and prayers are with Bill and his family. This is very close to home as my dad was in a bike wreck also about 6 years ago. It will be a very long road ahead but the support of others helps so much. Get well soon!

I'm terribly saddened by this bad news concerning Bill.

We ask The Almighty for the Grace to allow Bill to recover from his injuries and return home, soon, to be with the ones that love him and need him.

Lord, be at Bill's side to strengthen and comfort him and all of those who appeal to You for Bill to recover from this accident and be well again.

    Amen.

Bill helped me a lot with my projects. Ever more the realism of our dangerous lifestyle hits home. I hope him a quick recovery.

    UPDATE on bill

First the bottom line: bill remains in critical condition but he is stable. Of course he has been unconcious and kept unconcious since the accident.

    Now the details:

I went to the hospital to visit his wife and children (ages 18 and 20). They were already surrounded by many friends and relatives. According to them around 7 am a woman in a van turned into his path as she turned into a private drive. Bill must not have even had a chance to slow. He was about a mile from his house. He has head/brain trauma, a broken right wrist, maybe a broken right shoulder, and some indeterminate gash on his left knee. It goes without saying that he is massively bruised. It was interesting that even with all these injuries, the paramedics and hospital staff said his helmet did its job. I of course could not see bill as only family are allowed in critical care.

The news first reported that he had been killed. This was based on the fact that the paramedics twice lost his pulse. Once at the scene, and once in the ambulance. I also saw this news post along with two of my co-workers who also know bill via me. We were besides ourselves until we could confirm otherwise. (His son had called me prior to the post)

His wife heard the sirens and tried to call him on his cell and at work to no avail. The accident happened in front of the house of an off duty Raleigh Police officer who happens to go to their church. He immediately contacted their pastor. Bill's wife and children first heard of the accident from him. You know when your pastor unexpectedly shows up at your house early in the morning the news is not likely to be good.

The next 72 hours for bill are very important. This is when the swelling will be at its worst. Fortunately he is where he needs to be...at a good hospital with all those who know him praying for him.

I told his son, daughter, and wife of the tremendous response from this forum. They were very appreciative and I think a little proud that bill has positvely affected so many people...most of whom have never met him.

I will continue to post as I know more.

In the meantime keep him in your prayers. The world is a much more interesting place with bill in it.

Wow, ummm I am very sadened to read this esp. about a man who has helped so many even without physically meeting us. I wish him and his family the best and hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. I think about this everyday on my way to work as my bike is all I have to drive. Good to hear he wore his gear even tho his injuries are bad It may have made all the difference between the worst and him recovering.

Bill you are in our prayers.

We must be all vigilant on motorcycle awereness. You could not see him, that should not be an excuse. You weren't looking for him!!

Artie, thanks for keeping us in the loop. Is there an address where we can send flowers, get-well cards, bike parts?
