i'm new here as well but like everybody else i wish him all the best on his recovery. its scary how bad things can get when just one person on the road doesn't pay attention for one second. So many people's lives can change in the blink of an eye like that.

Re: The "security certificate" warning. This is very common, IE's settings by default are a bit too strong and it will kick that message for every site that doesn't bother to keep their security certificate up-to-date OR just took the defaults and paid no attention. It's OK. I doubt "Care Pages" is a browser hijack, honest.

The URL has a "." after the .com, that's what's sending off all the warnings. Just remove the . and everything will be fine.

I plan on meeting Jonmarkos in either Lincoln or Omaha and there are some lined up to cover Missouri. I am sure someone will meet you closer to St. Louis and have you run it that direction. Jon is the guy to work with. I think this is gonna happen!!

    Update on Bill #4

I really don't want to write this update....

We need to pray harder all...I just got off the phone with Bill's daughter and it was a bad day. Bad days were to be expected but this is tough. There are concerns about Bill's brain activity. A CAT scan wasn't so promising. They have begun running tests to determine his state. There are apparently a serious of discrete tests beginning with the reflex test, followed by a breathing tests, etc. Apparently they start a test, then keep going to the next if that test is failed, and so on.

Bill failed all the reflex tests today. But, he passed the breathing tests so they stopped (I think). They will begin again tomorrow.

His daughter really sounded discouraged. Pray for a better day tomorrow.

I have been out and just found this. Bill has always had a helpful post on every one of my problems and most that I read of others. This is a saddening event for sure. My prayers go out to Bill and his family and the entire XJ community as we deal with this situation.

    Artie(RT), jarreddaughtry,
Thank you both for your updates, I just feel sick about this. Bill had emailed me last year that after I got my bike here, he would be glad to help me re-build it. This is a great comfort since I know next to nothing about motorcycles. I have not met Bill yet but I already know he is a great person. He is an inspiration to me and I am sure as well for all the forum members. He is a humble yet knowledgeable teacher and I look forward to working with him.

Got this recent update from Bills care pages.

Day 5 1:30 visit: today his pressure is still up, but he was breathing on his own 2 breaths a min. they sedated him a little to relax the brain and the breathing. he will have another CAT scan on monday morning and we will see what happens from there with the test.
thank you agian for your thoughts and prayers.

    Still prayin for you brother..

Bill, take care buddy, it is people like you that make this one of the best forums on the web.

I know that on another forum a fellow was killed just recently, same situation, someone turned left directly in front of them. One of my assistants at work was also involved in the exact same situation----luckily, he "saw it coming" and had slowed considerably and got away with a glancing blow and just a brief stay in the hospital for stitches, etc.

And why wasn't the other driver being charged, again?

It's not revenge, but this assinine idea among prosecutors that people on motorcycles don't "count" as much as people in cars is beyond the pale. Some members of the other forum actually petitioned the DA to bring charges against the violating driver.

Everyone please remember to Be The Bunny........

Update from the family's "Carepages" site as of 4 hours ago:
"we went back to see dad today and he nurse told us that his ICP number was up. the medication is not helping to keep his number down. his number was up between 50-52 we would like for it to be down in the 20's. please keep praying and we will keep you posted."

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
His body took a heck of a beating, hopefully the increase in his cranial pressure is just his body working overtime to right itself...Keep sending positive thoughts and energy his way!

Chacal: It's unfortunate that you are able to bring up such a good point. Legally, we almost never count. I understand our passion invokes a fair amount of risk, but most accidents are caused on behalf of negligence, no matter how many wheels - Unfortunately, those of us on two wheels typically pay a heavier price when the negligence belongs to someone else - The negligent pay a lesser price for costing us so much more.

    Update on Bill #5

My wife and I went by the hospital tonight to see Bill's family. I have still not been able to get back into the ICU to see Bill. They are allowing limited visitors but both Saturday and Sunday evening when I went the hospital staff cancelled the visitation interval for all patients without further explanation.

Bill's cranial pressure has been high as some of you have seen from his care page. They have switched him to a stronger medication to keep it down but it has been stubbornly high. Nonetheless the family remains strong and every time I go up to the hospital there are at least 15-20 family members and friends around. Bill's wife once counted 28 people. They had been warned that Bill would get worse before he got better and the warnings have come true. Always accentuating the positive, his pressure is at least steady and not climbing further.

I saw pictures of the motorcycle. It of course is totaled. It does give you some sense of the accident. Maybe Bill will have the pleasure of posting them someday...I have faith.

Right now those of you who are praying...don't relent. Continue your prayers.

This was posted this morning by the family.

    Posted 19 minutes ago
Day 7: Today we have heard the news that they are going to do the breathing test again. which means he has to breath with in 5 min. either way they are going to do the blood flow test which is when they inject something into his blood and the machines read if the blood flows to his head or not. The doctor said it does not look good and it is going to take a miracle for survival so please send up your best prayers this morning as they go through the process of the test. thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and visits this week.

I have just got off the phone with Bills pastor. It looks like it may be near the end. He failed his breathing test this morning. The doctors are going to do the last test, the blood flow test, just for peace of mind to know that there was nothing they could do. He may still pass it but it looks slim. Like it was stated before this is going to take a miracle.

My prayers still continue regardless. Whether this is his time to go or to live to ride another day he is in my (our) thoughts. Always thankfull for his contribution to this great website, for his friendly welcome, and giving heart.

    Update on Bill #6

For those of you who have been following this thread I have the saddest of news to report. I dread every keystroke.

Bill's situation is such that long term survival is not possible. The family will be meeting soon with the doctors but the news is a foregone conclusion. There will be an opportunity to say final goodbyes. Bill will be taken to harvest his organs (he is a donor...you can't be surprised) and then he will be taken for cremation as was his wish.

I will post more when I know more and I am up to it. Leaving work for the hospital.....
