Barely know of the words to convey how horrible it is to have one of our fellow brothers go like this.
Best wishes to family and friends, rest peacefully Bill.

    .....

I dont know what to think right now, i'm choking back tears as I write this I never knew him personally, but he was always there. This forum was a comfort to me while working on my bike, and jsut a part of daily life. Bill was a major piece of this forum, and with his departure, this forum has lost a major piece of what it was.

From what i hear about him, he was a major factor n many peoples lives, and also a member of several groups like ours, apparently a wood carving group, and amerature radio group.
The fact that he had around 30 people in the hospital for him is awe-inspiring.

William Schmitt, may God take your soul to his wonderful kingdom, rest in piece, and please watch over us.

Also, The minivan driver should know about this, and she must feel aweful, I hope she shows sincere concern and respect for bill and his family.

Are we going to do any type of memorial? I was thinking something along the lines of a major restoration of his wrecked bike, where we could all donate parts, money, time, etc, to get the bike in tip-top shape, and then put the bike in some significant spot. i would be willing to donate for it

R.I.P., the good really do die young

I've onlyn been here a few months but I remember Bill as one of the first to offer me adivce. I needed a lot of advice and Bill (along with others) never witheld any part of their knowledge nor have any of you expected anything in return.
    What a waste.

Like many others here, I only knew Bill through forum postings. The fact that so many people are so affected by someone they never met in person speaks volumes about the kind of person he must have been. All of my condolences and sympathy go out to his family and friends.

"Are we going to do any type of memorial? I like this idea, not sure about using his bike though. I too am willing to donate for it.

    Be careful out there friends.

Rest in Peace Bill and Godspeed.

This is truly awful news. I just don't know what to say. I never met Bill, but I always respected what he had to say. My heart breaks for his family as I can only imagine what they have gone through. I pray that they find peace that even at his end of time with us here, he is still helping others.

I couldn't agree with lostboy more. There should be a place of honor for those that have contributed greatly to be recognized for their efforts while with us her on earth. While Bill may be gone from us now, he should not be forgotten.

A lot of people affected, and my sympathies to all of them. Seems unreal. It should be unreal.

I only had a chance to talk to him a few times, but I can honestly say that his kindness was sincere and his belief in helping others is something we should all try to do in life.
There are very few times in our journey of life that we get the chance to meet a soul that was placed here to do for others knowing his reward was doing right for others. bill was that man.

Godspeed, Bill. may your next journey be peaceful and full of love like you gave all of us.

I am deeply saddened. I never corresponded with Bill directly, but I feel as though I knew him from reading his posts and what other members have said about their interactions with him. The earthly world is minus a prince, but heaven has just acquired a model resident! I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to his family;I simply can't imagine how difficult this must be for them. I had a great day until I read this thread... Really kind of puts the trials and tribulations of everday life into perspective. Perhaps I am wrong to refer to Bill in the past tense,as I am sure he is one of our guardian angels, and will forever continue to be in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers. GOD BLESS,Bill!

This is a sad day indeed. I found myself thinking about my Dad when reading some of Bill's post. My father has been gone just over a year and there isn"t a day that goes by that I don"t think of him one way or another. It seems to me, at least, that he isn't gone because he is always with me.

Bill's family has all of my prayers and heartfelt sympathies.

I think my Uncle Perk said it best when he spoke of my Dad after his passing:

"Do not weep in grief that he is gone, but rejoice that he was!"

We are all better people for having known Bill.

Godspeed my friend!! You will be missed.

I feel sick to my stomach. Last post I had read his prognosis was looking up. I even had a dream the other day he woke up. I guess I'll have to wait a long time to finally meet him. I'm at a complete loss for words... it's just not fair.

I read this post earlier, and then took my bike out. about 10 minutes into my ride, I put a smile on my face and put the back pegs down.
gave me goosebumps on a 95 degree night.
thanks for the inspiration to do it.

    Farewell Bill :(

If I didn't sell my XJ, I might have had the pleasure of knowing you better. The imprint that you made on this forum alone proves a life that was filled with good deeds and good will to others. Follow the light my friend....

I live real close to Bills house and am available to support the family in any way that I can. Feel free to message me if there is something that I can be involved in to help out. Bill helped people...so what goes around-----> comes around!

I'm sorry to hear that Bill's fight has ended.
I just wish I could do more to make riding motorcycles safe on public roads. Let's all try to inform the drivers we know, to be aware of motorcycles on the road.

I am sure that Bill is doing well where he is now. I hope the family feels comfort in that.

I am very grateful for the help and friendship he extended me in the time that I talked with him. I felt like I got to know him when he said that he worked on bikes to stay out of trouble, spending time to help noobs like myself wrench their machines.
