The best motorcycle does the most things the right way.
What do you want your motorcycle to do ?? That's pretty personal.
Acceleration, stopping, cornering, fuel economy, service, safety, reliability, resale value, "looks", comfort, "image", off-road ability - ETC.

The FJR does almost everything I want it to do, and was "King of Sport Touring" for many years. It set an "unofficial" speed record by traveling from the North slopes of Fairbanks, Alaska to Key West, Florida in 3 days and 17 or so Hours, and has proven more reliable than the BMW that it competes against in Europe, at $5,000 under that price.
It has anti-lock brakes (something I was looking for) $1,000 heated Corbin seats, heated grips (in FLA!), some fancy TOM-TOM GPS, and a new Barn Door windshield from E-Bay ! (not pictured)

Many nice bikes here, but I'm more for something like this:

Of course the seat on this one isn't to my liking, but I want a 80/20 or 70/30 dual sport tire for my XJ, and I'll be happy. Simply to have a little bit more dirt/gravel traction, and i'm good. Nice comfortable ride that I can sit on for hours, stretch my legs, and have the option to continue on gravel roads, that's priceless in my book. I tend to look at maps, and just go, a few times, I didn't let the gravel turn me around, and it was worth it.

Im excited to ride the new electric sport bikes they have at the harley dealer. Not usually into that kinda thing but the idea of riding a silent bike interests me.

I've narrowed my next bike down to an FZ1 or a Suzuki 1250 Bandit, both with some side panniers.

Best model is a pretty personal choice. At that, not sure I could settle on one.

THIS ONE certainly ranks up there.
