    And that is the one saving grace in NY. The trees (and mountains) are amazing. Of course, the South has them too, so I will escape eventually.

    Rode that same badlands loop shortly after I got my XJ550 in 1985. Nice ride for a motorcycle. Did you go on to Black Hills?

    I notice you have extra gas can. It can be quite long between gas stations out there. Got worried a few time when running reserve. I learned to keep tank topped off every stop, even if it was only 1/2 gallon!

    I really like it on hot days! It can be a little chilly on colder days but it's just held on with some paracord tied to the frame so easy off and on. It stays put without any trouble at all. If I wiggle my butt I get a bit of a massage to get the blood flowing.

    I stayed off the interstates on that trip. It was during the week of the 4th of July and I was worried about finding open gas stations on the smaller roads. It turned out I was okay, but it was nice having extra gas just for the piece of mind it brought.
