bike id needed please

    hi all! i'm new to the site and searching for info with no luck so far. i have tried a few searches but can't seem to nail down what this bike is and thought maybe you guys might be able to help me. a friend of mine bought a bike today and we don't know exactly what it is. from looking around on the web i THINK it is an '82 xj1100. we know it is an '82 from the neck but the side covers are gone and there are no other distinguishing markings on it.
    the only info i have is a model# JAY10M00-5-CA007046
    and vin# 10M-007046

    i'm hoping you guys might be able to tell me what it is from these #'s. i have googled both of them with no luck and also looked on Yamaha's web site again with no luck. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
