Bike still won't start after Starter rebuild

    So good news on the starter spinning when jumping the solenoid. Now it's time to test the solenoid and verify wiring. Not sure if the solenoid is new, you said starter relay was replaced, and that is a different part than the starter solenoid.

    Here is a link on testing the starter / solenoid and safety circuits, it is for an 82 so a little bit different than your 81, but the first few steps are the same for testing the starter and solenoid. Step 3 for testing the solenoid since you already did step 2.

    So umm did a spark test on one Sparks is that odd or what?

    Now I have spark, starter turns motor turns but not fast enough to start. Could valve clearance make it hard to start if they are off

    More likely that the battery needs charged/replaced, or you have dirty/ bad ground.
